The General Dynamics Robotic Systems Safe Operations (SafeOps) team is integrating technologies that will enable high-reliability detection and avoidance of humans and moving vehicles in close proximity to Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs). The key challenge is detecting and correctly classifying moving humans from a moving platform in time for the UGV's planning software to avoid collisions. This project continues the development of human detection algorithms, multi-core computing architecture and computing hardware, including a conduction-cooled compact PCI enclosure.
